Austen novel 'to sell for £50,000'
An inscribed presentation copy of a first edition of Emma by Jane Austen could fetch £50,000 when it goes to auction in London.
The rare three-volume set is inscribed on behalf of Austen to her friend and governess Anne Sharp. It goes under the hammer on June 24 - and auction house Bonhams said it will be sold for an estimated £50,000.
The British seller of the book, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: "The novel had been sitting in my family library for at least three generations and it remains a mystery as to how the book first got there."
